Astound US Inc is a new kind of Artist Representation business based in the borough of Manhattan in New York City, and now with offices in London.

We aim high - to Astound - by being the Agency with the best in contemporary children's book illustration, and both licensing and commercial art from around the world.

We back that up with excellence in every aspect: from the first presentation, to how we project manage, and all the way through to how we invoice.

We Astound by being good at what we do with a snappy, can-do, enthusiastic, talented and creative attitude. And yes, we're not expensive.

All those things that make for an 'astounding' outcome.

Our promise to artists: career advancement with the right clients, regular creative guidance, strong administrative support and on time payment

Drawn to better.

Be drawn to better.

No matter where you are in the world or at whichever stage of your freelance artist career you may be, we're passionate about helping your career be more successful and rewarding by creating the art you love most! We are on your side: we'll give you insider's tips and client feedback for your folio development, and also introduce you directly to leading children's publishing houses, greeting card companies, jigsaw puzzle and game manufacturers, poster and decorative product suppliers (tableware, stationery)… the list goes on!

We're here to discuss the artistic direction you'd like to pursue and make that a reality with you.

Our positive relationships with our artists have made us the most rapidly growing Artist Agency in New York, possibly the USA. Here in the center of the publishing world, we are just a few subway stops away from the biggest brands worldwide, but we don't stay local - our agents travel everywhere to showcase your portfolio (and custom-made promotional materials!), from coast to coast in the USA, to major fairs in Europe: Frankfurt, Bologna, London and beyond.

We spread the word about your talent through personalized mail-outs, regular correspondence with close contacts in the industry, and online campaigns in addition to our state of the art site - all free to you!

Our partnership with Collaborate Agency's highly experienced team of editors and designers means that we can also support you in developing original children's book ideas into full-fledged storybooks and presentations, which we bring to the biggest children's book fairs of the year.

Best of all, we make sure you're paid right on time.

Astound us! If you'd like to learn more and be represented by Astound US, please email contact@astound.us with a sampling of your favorite pieces (8-10 .jpgs under 2MB each).

Astound Team!

Darnell Johnson

“Born and raised in Miami, Darnell Johnson’s passion for creating art was sparked in elementary school. After graduating from Savannah College of Art and Design, Darnell was on his way diving head first into building a career as an artist. Currently a full-time illustrator in Atlanta, Darnell continues to learn and challenge himself. Recent projects include illustrating his first debut picture book “The Electric Slide and Kai” for Lee and Low and the graphic novel “Power Up” for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. It’s his family, faith, life experiences, and love that he pours into the marks he makes to create art that moves and inspires others.”

Brittney Bond

“Brittney was born in sunny South Florida to a Jamaican family. After living in Florida most of her life, she is currently based in suburban Maryland. A self-taught artist, she works primarily digitally with a passion for using appealing color palettes, intriguing lighting, and a magical and positive aura throughout her illustrations. During her free time, she enjoys watching movies, journaling, shopping for fashion, and listening to fun indie and alternative music.”

Katie Crumpton

“Katie was born in South Carolina in 1992 but now she is currently living in the Bay Area. She moved to California to attend the Academy of Art University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in illustration in 2016. She is primarily a digital artist, because it’s convenient, portable. When she’s not drawing she is probably watching the Harry Potter movies for the umpteenth time, hula hooping, creating music, or exploring a book shop.”

Markia Jenai

“Markia was raised in Detroit, during rough times, but she found her adventure through art and storytelling.  Her love of art led her to study at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. An avid lover of fantasy settings, cultures, and mythology, Markia has made it her goal to create worlds where people of color are front and center. Diversity within her art means the world to her. She dreams of the day that everyone sees themselves in media and everyone has the same access to telling their own stories. It is her belief that through sharing culture, sharing stories and creating art that the world will heal through understanding.”

Briana Arrington-Dengoue

“Briana Arrington-Dengoue is a Philadelphia born and based Illustrator, Graphic Designer, and elementary school art teacher. She obtained her BFA in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute and College of Art in 2017. Briana’s work includes pieces of her identity as she is a firm believer in the fact that representation matters. She is always hoping that her work reaches someone who may look like her, see the world like her or has gone through similar experiences. When her hand is not attached to creating you can find her aggressively playing volleyball with a city league or having a good cry or hearty laugh in a movie marathon.”
