Astound US Inc is a new kind of Artist Representation business based in the borough of Manhattan in New York City, and now with offices in London.

We aim high - to Astound - by being the Agency with the best in contemporary children's book illustration, and both licensing and commercial art from around the world.

We back that up with excellence in every aspect: from the first presentation, to how we project manage, and all the way through to how we invoice.

We Astound by being good at what we do with a snappy, can-do, enthusiastic, talented and creative attitude. And yes, we're not expensive.

All those things that make for an 'astounding' outcome.

Our promise to artists: career advancement with the right clients, regular creative guidance, strong administrative support and on time payment

Drawn to better.

Be drawn to better.

No matter where you are in the world or at whichever stage of your freelance artist career you may be, we're passionate about helping your career be more successful and rewarding by creating the art you love most! We are on your side: we'll give you insider's tips and client feedback for your folio development, and also introduce you directly to leading children's publishing houses, greeting card companies, jigsaw puzzle and game manufacturers, poster and decorative product suppliers (tableware, stationery)… the list goes on!

We're here to discuss the artistic direction you'd like to pursue and make that a reality with you.

Our positive relationships with our artists have made us the most rapidly growing Artist Agency in New York, possibly the USA. Here in the center of the publishing world, we are just a few subway stops away from the biggest brands worldwide, but we don't stay local - our agents travel everywhere to showcase your portfolio (and custom-made promotional materials!), from coast to coast in the USA, to major fairs in Europe: Frankfurt, Bologna, London and beyond.

We spread the word about your talent through personalized mail-outs, regular correspondence with close contacts in the industry, and online campaigns in addition to our state of the art site - all free to you!

Our partnership with Collaborate Agency's highly experienced team of editors and designers means that we can also support you in developing original children's book ideas into full-fledged storybooks and presentations, which we bring to the biggest children's book fairs of the year.

Best of all, we make sure you're paid right on time.

Who We Are! Meet the Astound Agent Team 2018

Our staff at Astound is looking forward to celebrating our fourth year of Astounding projects with Astounding artists and clients across the world! Our tight knit team of art agents may come from unique backgrounds, but we all share unparalleled love for what we do. With offices in New York City and London, our team comes together to recognize global trends and influences. We love working closely with both our children’s book illustrators and freelance illustrators to produce high quality board books, picture books, chapter books, magazines, greetings cards and other licensed products.

Meet our Team:

Emily Coggins, Manager (US), has been working in artist representation with Astound since it was founded in April, 2014.  Before Astound, Emily held positions in both the fashion design industry, and in Public Relations at film festivals. After hearing about the opportunity to start a new boutique agency in her home city of New York, she jumped at the chance to go back to her art history major roots and take a job that surrounded her with art, everyday. Her dream job is one where business meets creativity, a definite characteristic of Astound. In her spare time she is out horse back riding, perusing local art galleries, hiking in the woods, playing with her cats Fluff and Zinnia, or traveling around the world. Today she is very happy applying her visual eye to predict trends in the illustration world, and to develop portfolios of the best new upcoming illustrators!

Nicole Mendelsohn, Manager (UK), studied experimental psychology at university, but her great love has always been art. Her background is in picture research, working in picture libraries, including those at the National Portrait Gallery and the V&A Museum, and for a publishing company that specialized in books on design and photography. For nearly 10 years Nicole was the art director for greeting card publisher, The Almanac Gallery. She has also worked as a picture framer, enjoying the transformative nature of creative bespoke framing. Since Nicole has always enjoyed working with art and artists, it was only a matter of time before she became an art agent, and that led her to the door of Astound. When not working, Nicole loves to travel, particularly if this involves being somewhere she can go hiking. Although she lives in the busy city of London, she’s happiest surrounded by nature. Nicole also regularly visits art exhibitions, and is an avid music fan – frequently going to gigs and singing in two choirs.

Aurora Meyer, Art Agent (US), planned on a creative career since preschool. She studied illustration at RISD and moved to Brooklyn shortly after graduation, where she taught art and worked as a freelance designer herself. She joined Astound in January 2016 and has since enjoyed helping other creative people find opportunities. Her background with children makes it especially fun to help develop the products her former students loved.

Alison Berson, Art Agent (US), grew up being surrounded by the beauty of upstate New York, something that would inspire her to pursue her passion for art. She graduated from SUNY Oswego with a dual major in Art History and Economics, with a Studio Art minor. Shortly after, she followed her dreams and moved downstate to Long Island. After working in customer service, sales and account management, she was recruited to follow her dream of being involved in the art industry and joined the Astound team.
