I am Melbourne based and I have a Master of Fine Arts and First Class Honours in fine art (printmaking & drawing) from VCA, a PhD. in Op-shopping and collecting vintage kids books, and old toys and games.
My long time heroes have always been Hervé Morvan and Miroslav Sasek.
Luckily, I have won many national awards for my ink drawings (2002-10) and I am represented in many public collections, including The National Gallery of Australia.
Recently I won an honorable mention in the 2016 3x3 Illustration Annual #13 Professional Show; and have work recently published in The Guardian, UK weekend magazine.
My style can be painterly or flat, but it is usually humorous and kooky. I mostly paint in gouache and digital drawing.
I love working with text and type. (I used to be a part-time ticket writer).
My biggest stylistic trait would be humour and layers of busy-ness/detail in my images.
I can be light and fluffy, but also dark, cheeky, naughty, subversive, ironic, silly.
I aim to make people laugh, think and wonder, and I like to be different.
