Ashley is an author/illustrator born and raised in Southwest Virginia, near the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. She grew up with her nose always in a book. Her teachers praised her dedication to reading, although her Math teacher wasn’t thrilled that she read under her desk instead of learning equations! Her love of books transitioned into a passion for art, which she used to illustrate all the stories she loved (as well as some original tales). She continued to pursue art in college, graduating from Lynchburg College in 2005 with a degree in Studio Art.
Since then, Ashley has had a unique mix of jobs- from hand-painting children’s keepsake ornaments, to writing technical manuals for industrial machines. She continues writing and illustrating stories, with her favorites being children’s picture books.
If Ashley hadn’t become an artist, her plan was to become a wolf biologist and live with a pack of wolves in Yellowstone. (It’s probably a good thing she went into art!) Instead, she now lives in Lynchburg VA, with her wonderful husband and a noisy little bird named Sully.
