Chris Saunders was born in North East UK, where he lives and works today.
He studied Illustration at The University of Northampton receiving a First Class BA Honors Degree - previously Chris attained an Art and Design Foundation Studies National Diploma with Distinction.
Chris was also awarded the 2010 e-Creative nomination for new talent in the field of illustration.
Chris has produced several children’s books to date; working with such publishers as Zondervan, (Harper Collins), Koala Books (Scholastic) and QED (The Quarto Group).
He has worked on a variety of projects including book covers, greetings cards and he also contributed in creating a national craft magazine as well as illustrating products sold on the Ideal World shopping channel.
Chris works mostly digitally, describing his work as storytelling; using imaginative, whimsical, and atmospheric imagery with exaggerated physics to produce something with a difference. The major influence that inspired Chris to peruse a career in illustration was undoubtedly children’s books – specifically authors Roald Dahl, Kenneth Grahame and J.R.R. Tolkien to name a few.
