Hatiye Garip is a colourful pencil that loves to draw and design.
She graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University, Department of Visual Communication Design in 2015. She completed her master's degree in Design, Technology and Society Program at Özyeğin University with her thesis on the representation of disability in picture books. Her illustrations and comics have been published in several books and magazines. Her works have been exhibited at the 10th International Illustration Meeting of S. João da Madeira Finalists Exhibition in Portugal, the 2nd Kaunas International Graphic Art Biennale, Fragment Deconstruction Exhibition in Lithuania, LUSTR Illustration Festival in Prague, Czech Republic and the Cheltenham Illustration Awards Exhibition in Stroud, UK.
Besides, her illustrations took place in the annuals like 3x3 Annual No.15 and the Cheltenham Illustration Awards 2018 Annual. Her first picture book was published in South Korea. Since 2018, she has been represented by the Astound US illustration agency. In addition to editorial illustrations, she currently works from her studio in Istanbul and focuses on her own picture book projects.
When she was a child, her favourite drawing tools were pencil and paper. Nowadays, she prefers digital ones but still draws.
