Born in Japan and moved to United States at age 1, M. Kawashima grew up in a small town in Minnesota, where her home was surrounded by forests, cornfields, and massively open space. Because of a wide range of imaginations in an open space, M. was able to discover her passion in art and decided to pursue as an illustrator. She studied at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, receiving BFA Studio Art, and then earned another bachelor's degree in BFA Illustration at School of Visual Arts in New York City.
M. tends to sketch and brainstorm random ideas that come to her mind, and then uses Adobe Photoshop to paint and tweak things around.
She is ready for any adventures and challenges to gravitate towards anything that pursues representation, which could create a new open door for inspirations and opportunities.
M. loves watching entertainments, such as films, T.V. series, and plays, and she also enjoys playing video games. She is proud to be an illustrator and a geek.
