Artist Biography

Phillip was born in Dublin, Ireland, during the ’80s and grew up watching retro cartoons like M.A.S.K, Transformers and the Secret of NIMH. He studied Classical Animation at Ballyfermot College of Art and Design. For over 10 years, he used creative arts to teach children and young people in an informal education setting. He also worked on motion graphics projects for Bord Gáis, Irish Water and IDA Ireland, through creative agencies in Dublin. Now, most of his time is focused on creating fun and cute imaginary worlds with his illustrations. He works primarily digitally, but his process also includes various other types of media such as watercolour, gouache and coloured pencil. Aside from illustration, Phillip loves to travel with his wife Lou and experience different cultures and food from around the world. His favourite music to listen to while working is film scores. A Hans Zimmer playlist was his music of choice while illustrating The Friendship Fairies, one of his most recent children's illustration projects.
