Growing up in and around New Orleans, Sarah started drawing as soon as she could hold a crayon, and has never stopped! She studied painting at the University of New Orleans (interrupted by Hurricane Katrina) and earned her BA in 2006. Since then, she has exhibited paintings in galleries across the U.S., and has created illustrations for picture books, middle-grade novels, and magazines.
Influenced by the work of Hayao Miyazaki and Edward Gorey, Sarah describes her art as “quirky” and “whimsical” and is pretty psyched that it has been referred to as “edgy” on more than one occasion. Her favorite things to draw are animal characters doing mundane things like watching TV and checking their smartphones.
When she isn’t drawing, Sarah can be found cooking, knitting, playing video games, and planning elaborate dinner parties that never happen with her husband and small dog in their Madisonville, Louisiana home.
