Jo was born in Sunny Southend on sea. As a little girl all she loved to do was draw and read. Her favourite books were mainly the magical faraway worlds of Enid Blyton and E Nesbit. At Southend Art college Jo studied Graphic design , she soon realised that her passion was in Children’s Illustration when everything she created ended up having a smiley face.
Working freelance illustrating children’s magazines and books in licensed characters made her realise that she longed to create her own. After having her two daughters (mini artists in the making) she set about making her dream a reality. ‘Catch me if you can’ was her debut picture book which has sold in many counties worldwide. Since then she has just completed her 30th children’s book, a picture book premiering at Frankfurt book fair. Her proudest moment to date has to be being chosen to illustrate ‘Bear’s reading adventure’ for Booktrust, that was given free in every library in the United Kingdom to promote library use to the under 5’s.
Jo loves to work as part of a team, working hard to create her humorous and characterful illustrations to bring your project to life. She loves to inject her Imagination into each piece making each piece unique! Jo works digitally using her Wacom cintiq, Photoshop and ipad pro using Procreate. Character design and picture book ideas are her speciality. Whilst working she loves to listen to Bowie, Queen and Boy George or fuelling her love of reading listening to an audiobook! She is a member of the AOI and SCBWI.
Her office assistant Ziggy the pug is never far from her side and she longs to create a picture book staring him .
