Federico Mariani is an illustrator and toy designer living near Modena, north Italy. He likes to apply his skills to non-fiction children books, adult magazines and books, character design, and especially toys and board games.
As early as kindergarten he start greedily devouring comics and picture books. Although his
teachers told him he could not draw, he felt somehow that illustration was the job for him. Drawing has always been his passion and ever since his school days he was challenging himself to create characters, comics and illustrations. In 2008, after a period in advertising design, he started to illustrate books for for Mondadori Ragazzi, Edizioni EL, Giunti Editore, Editoriale Scienza, Usborne Publishing, ilSole24ore newspaper, and Monocle magazine. He also illustrated various apps like “Timbuktu Pasta” and designed toys for companies like Big & Small Peluches and Grani & Partners/Preziosi Collection.
He thinks that “Heart” is an important engine for inspiration and for drawing things we all can love. His favorite topics to draw are nature, food, science, space, history, maps, robots and monsters.
