Filippo Vanzo was born in Vicenza in 1982. He grew up in Italy but relocated to Stockholm, Sweden at the end of 2014 as part of his personal quest for a more relaxed and in-touch-with- nature lifestyle.
Filippo has always been fascinated and inspired by the strongly narrative, densely detailed, and yet delicate works by old masters such as Rackham, Rockwell, Doré, Bauer, Larsson, Clarke and Rossetti, just to name a few. Nature in all its forms is also a strong source of inspiration.
His art is a blend of both traditional and digital media. He loves to draw in pencil or ink, and then color digitally, while trying to maintain a traditional feel. Sometimes his work is fully digital if the project requires more flexibility in terms of image manipulation.
Filippo loves nature, hiking, maps, dinosaurs, video games, progressive and folk music, riding his bicycle, and sleeping. If he were not an illustrator, he would probably want be a wildlife photographer, a natural reserve ranger, a paleontologist, or a tree.
