Giulia Tomai was born in 1990 in Rome, where she currently lives. She started drawing when she was too young to remember. When Giulia was a child, she wanted to become a cartoonist or, alternatively, an obstetrician. She spent all her time drawing comics, but she never wrote the texts.
Giulia attended the course of Illustration at the European Institute of Design (IED) in Rome and after earning her degree in 2011, she founded Studio Pilar, a creative studio and cultural association, with other three illustrators and friends.
Since 2011, she has been working as a freelance illustrator, especially for children’s books and magazines. In her spare time, Giulia loves watching movies or TV series, reading novels, and taking care of plants. Her favorite thing is the sea.
