Leo was born in sunny San José, Costa Rica, where he still lives today with his wife and his soon-to-be daughter.
Leo was practically raised by Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network and you can see their big influence in his artwork. A professional illustrator and animator, he graduated with honors from Veritas University of Arts and Design. He’s also the creator, designer, and director of three animated series: “Ivick Von Salza -The Little Lumberjack", "Yum Yum and You," and "Kelvin Magnetic - The Voltakid". His animated characters have aired in more than 20 countries so far, through channels like Disney Japan, BBC Kids, Studio 100, YLE Finland, RTP Portugal, Al Jazeera, and Multimania TV, among others.
A member of the SCBWI with a background in animation, Leo now dedicates his time to writing and illustrating books for kids.
He works mostly digitally, but he’s very ambitious and dedicated to improving his art, so he loves to mix techniques and experiment in his work.
His biggest motivation is to make kids happy with funny characters and good stories. His artwork is best described as “wacky and full of life!”
