Born in Florence, Italy, on 12/29/1981, Rosalia grew up in the city visiting museums daily, making a mess with her painting colors and drawing on the walls at home, all under the watchful eye of a proud father, who was also a painter, and a displeased mother.
Her childhood was influenced by Rien Poortvliet’s amazing work and Russian fairytales, a book illustrated by the Provensen.
At age 15 she went to the school’s theatre, where she worked as a professional for 18 years. She has found illustration and theatre to be very close and utilises all of her experiences in her work.
Rosalia now lives in Sicily, with her partner and four crazy cats working as an illustrator. With her illustrations she tries to create a door where children and adults can hide from the real world, and cure their heart, just like illustrated books cured mine.
