Artist Biography

Tom Woolley is a British freelance illustrator who lives in West Yorkshire. Originally from Derbyshire, Tom crossed the county border to study multimedia at the University of Bradford. After graduating in 2002, Tom worked at the National Media Museum as a designer before turning to freelance illustration full time in 2012.

Tom has always loved drawing and remembers a childhood filled with comics, cartoons and computer games. Artists such as Quentin Blake, Maurice Sendak and David McKee filled his head with fantastical pictures and tall tales that inspired his passion to illustrate children's books.
He is also an explorer-in-training and his love for travel often combines with his fondness for bright colours in the many stylised, fun maps he has designed for clients worldwide. When not working, Tom can be found in the cinema, or exploring the Yorkshire wilds foraging for ideas and good coffee.
