Ana Toro
Ana is a Venezuelan artist whose practice has been extremely diverse. She grew up in Caracas in a Hungarian immigrant family, and after getting her BA in Visual Communication, she became an immigrant herself. She's lived in four different countries and worked as an English tutor for preschoolers, a graphic designer and a fancy wedding cake maker, to name a few fun and creative stints. She now lives in Toronto with her husband and a silly Boston terrier named Moe. Her work is inspired by life's tiny pleasures, like a great meal shared with loved ones, a walk at the park with a friend, or meeting a kind stranger. She works in traditional media and firmly believes nothing beats the pleasure of getting your hands dirty with paint (or cookie dough, for that matter.
