Shane Tolentino
Shane Tolentino (they/she) is a Filipino-American illustrator based in Chicago, IL. As a child, she was often found reading fantasy adventure novels and drawing worlds of her own. This passion for art and storytelling led her to Columbia College Chicago, where she earned a BFA in Illustration and a minor in Environmental Science. During their time as a NASA intern, Shane wrote and illustrated the book You Are Going for young readers about Artemis missions, which has been translated into six languages. In addition, they illustrated a graphic for International Women’s Day which gained over five million impressions on X/Twitter. Today, Shane balances their role as a graphic designer at Lincoln Park Zoo with their freelance illustration career, driven by a love for stories about human resilience and the Earth’s biodiversity. In their free time, they love reading, learning new Chopin nocturnes, and listening to their favorite band, Wilco.
